"Popular" music(in its widest definition) peaked in 1968. It started to decline after that and was all but dead as a creative force by the mid 70,s.
The greatest guitar track ever recorded was from that year.
From 2.30 on is at good as it gets. Never heard anything better.

I totally agree with that! :y

1968 was the big year and as the Beatles and Cream left the scene I personally become a big fan of Led Zep, but after that, as you say mid 1970's, it, to me, was all crap!  It certainly didn't satisfy my music needs.....Bony M for instance, FFS, that said it all!!. ::) ::) :(

Even now, and yes I am still a rock chic, will usually be found playing, at full volume in the car, Led Zeppelin (I did today going around town) or the Beatles when I want more subdued but fully creative songs. :D :D 8) 8)

Some of the 1980's music was actually ok, but nothing on a par with what we had before then :y :y

Now are we just oldish folk who say, like my parents did, modern music is not like it was, you know, Glen Miller (who actually I love listening to!), or are we only reflectIng what is true as all I see is today's youngsters just treating the music as a commodity with no emotional attachment like we did in the 1960's? ::) ::)

Ahh, Eric at his best👍 I’m a Black Sabbath fan so you can imagine how I feel about guitar solos. Today, Joe Satriani is one of the best for that imho and just like Jimi he can’t read music either!

I don't listen to music much or play guitar these days, but when I do listen it tends to be more mellow stuff now like Don Henley or Bob Seger.
