New EU ruling all electric cars are going to have devices fitted to make them sound like a normal car, because they're dangerous being quiet, give me strength!

When I heard also that they only had to make a noise up to 12 mph I fell about laughing!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

So that helps the blind or partially sighted?!  So a car does not kill after 12 mph?!

It also reminded me of the boys back in the day who fitted a piece of wood or similar to one of the wheels of their push bikes to make an engine noise! ;D ;D ;D ;)

I am still laughing with incredibility, and I just wish I heard wrong!  ::) ::) ;D ;D :y

.....and I have just double checked online to make sure my older persons mind has not got this right, but I have!!!

The best quote I could find online for today:
"This system must emit a continuous noise of at least 56 decibels any time the car is moving 20 kilometers per hour (12 miles per hour) or slower. That’s about as loud as a conversation you might have in your home."

No, surely this most be an April fool....for 1st July!!! ;D ;D ;D ;)

Ridiculous isn't it? Noise is one of the emissions we should be glad to be rid of. The electric motor's lack of noise and vibration is just one of its big advantages.

I'll have the smallest electric car possible please but I want it to sound like the latest thunderous AMG offering from Mercedes..😀😁😂 should please my neighbours.

Gets my vote. I nearly got run over by an electric taxii at Granada airport. Never heard it. It was my fault.

We don't just use sight.

I had hoped the noise would be generated by a lollipop stick in the wheel spokes.

Maybe a whole aftermarket for V8 , V12 , turbo with wastegate , Morris1000 and so on
