connector locking tag

Yet again I struggle to remove a connector, because on the Vectra they all have blue locking tags. In the past I have struggled to dig them out and eventually got them off. Can someone please tell me how to deal with them with confidence and speed.

Small flat blade and lever gently to the stop.
Thanks Doc. I levered it gently to the stop, still seemed to obstruct my pressing in the release lever, so I pulled it out some more, and suddenly it shot out and disappeared; or maybe the head came off the blue tag. Anyway, I was then able to press in the release lever and remove the plug.
