Recovery Vehicle
« on: 30 August 2008, 22:57:20 »

I need one ;)
Must be transit or that sort of size cab and diesel engine with a bed large enough to be able to get an omega size vehicle on. Must have MOT but can be a short one and does not have to be mint condition but not falling apart. If it's a crew cab then thats great. Have £1000 in cash here but could put a bit more to it if needed.
Hope you can help :y :y

Autotrader has drawn a blank on a quick surf.

Towbar for your miggy and a trailer may be an option?

Have a towbar on my mig but really need a flat bed truck as it's going to be working 7 days a week with a bit of luck, and should be able to offer a good rate for collection and delivery to oof members ;)

Think you might need something a bit 'beefy' to winch Omegas onto it......My local garage has a recovery truck......and normally its fine.....But when they recovered my Omega last (fuel pump went) ....the leccy winch really struggled.....they had to start the truck and give it some revs.....to winch a 1.8ton car up the ramps.....and even after they got it on the truck....the back end of my omega still overhung the rear end of the truck  :-/

If they struggled that much they are doing it wrong! I used to winch 3.5T transits onto the back of a truck with a 2T winch without any problems at all... Just use a block and double/treble (as required) the ropes to reduce the effort required!
