Because they think that anyone who has a different opinion or doesn't share their view of how the world should be is evil.

Every country is split, the party/person with the majority of the votes gets to govern. It's called democracy.

Again, that's usually the way. I can't say I've ever really thought the Tories were that great, but the alternative is unthinkable.
