Surely an exit poll isn't quite the same as an actual result  ???

There are only two candidates because the others were eliminated in the previous rounds.

How many times have you told the nosy beggars outside the polling station that you voted Green? Probably as many times as you've told them to not be so nosey.

Imagine how many closet Trump voters said 'democrat' when asked ;)

Yesterday they voted for Macron and today they'll be putting on their Gilet Jaunes to protest against him!  ::)

Vive la France!  ;D

He won.....but the country is split.

......and why does the BBC and others describe anyone who isn't a commie as 'far right' or right wing extremist'?

Because they think that anyone who has a different opinion or doesn't share their view of how the world should be is evil.  ::)

Every country is split, the party/person with the majority of the votes gets to govern. It's called democracy.

I think the voting was based on who they hated least rather than who they liked most. :)

Also....why is Macron married to his mother? ::)

Again, that's usually the way. I can't say I've ever really thought the Tories were that great, but the alternative is unthinkable.
