Amazon Prime
« on: 30 September 2022, 10:56:44 »

Went to cancel the service, They took the £8.99 (Increased cost) 2 days ago, so expected the service to carry on the end of October.

On the drop down menu it showed the Prime options so off I went to cancel the subscription.  1 second later it seems I signed up for the anual subsctiption.
 :-\
I now have 2 refunds due back to me (£8.99 + £95) :y

They probably do that deliberately to punish you.

And if they do it a thousand times a day, that's alot of interest into their account from other people's money. And when they refund it, the write off the amount less the interest. Netting them a reasonable profit over time. Just for being a shitty company.

I pay a one off yearly fee for Amazon Prime. £79, but I think it has now gone up.

I find it pretty good value with all the free postage and next day delivery.

I don't pay for the BBC any more.

The saving on delivery costs well covers what I pay for prime. Then there is Prime Video, managed to find a few decent series on there, the odd film and, of course, sport.
I'll be sticking with it.

Now costs £95

Also if you check a lot of items can be found cheaper on Amazon , but then add postage etc, so not sure if Prime is viable these days for me.

There's Amazon & Amazon Prime.
Prime gives you next day delivery & Prime TV. Prime is what Amazon tries to steer you towards every time you buy something from Amazon.

It's an effective way of ripping you off... You sign up for it, use it a couple of times and forget about it.

Postage for a couple of items is significantly less than £95 :-X

Wrong about credit cards, wrong about Amazon Prime. Believe it or not, the majority of people know what they're doing. Unfortunately, others don't.

If you use it and are happy with it, then that's great, but these things are designed to liberate the less aware from their hard earned...

Having cancelled Amazon Prime more times than I care to remember, I've always found cancellation quick and slick, and it doesn't actually withdraw the prime privileges until the subscription ends.

I don't use Amazon that much, certainly not worth having it all the time.  But that also gives the advantage that all the stuff on the video side of Prime is all fresh ;D

For me, the new £9 a month isn't overpriced on the periods when I use it.  I'd argue that Neflix is...   ...it has more choice, but its 95% shite.

I get my moneys worth out of Netflix, and choose not to use Amazon. There is nothing that they supply that cannot be acquired elsewhere.

And thats your choice :y

Though I'd argue that The Grand Tour isn't (legally) available from anywhere other than Prime.  I actually thought A Scandi Flick was a return to form, after some lacklustre episodes.

Netflix, I seem to have this uncanny ability to pick shit films.  And then all it offers is more shit films, thinking I like them, despite me usually giving the thumbs down.  They need better quality films, even if that means less quantity
