Depends on how long the rod is. If over an inch or so, then no, but if it was over a foot or so ....  :-\

In all seriousness this is more likely to produce something usable.

Better still - start with a clean/straight piece of bar

Those were going to be my suggestions. Once you've got a 90° bend in bar, it's very difficult to rebend it satisfactorily. And that is such a short piece, how would you hold it?


Making a new one would probably be quicker too.

Yup.  Though you have given me another potential idea, I'll go get the ruler out....

I was thinking along the lines of, if it’s braced on the other end, cut through the bracing, flip it over and re-weld. Or, cut the straight piece, flip it around and sleeve the join and then weld, or just butt weld a single joint. That way you can maintain the exact bend, the exact length etc.  :-\

What is on the other end?

Can it be removed, reoriented and refitted to achieve the desired result?

No, hence I need to modify that end.  As that would be less work that turning the whole thing round and modifying both ends ;D

That is brand new, and the nearest I can get to fit.  Hence the need to modify it :D

Without knowing what it is and what it does we're guessing somewhat.

Clearly if it is being used as intended and designed but mismanufactured, then it needs to go back. End of debate.

However, if you are adapting something from its original application then more detail is required. Unless it is a surprise. Or a secret.  ;D
