XL bites the dust
« on: 12 September 2008, 09:30:21 »

Another travel firm goes belly-up I'm afraid - I hope no OOFers were booked with them (or any of their subsiduaries) cos it looks like you'll have a fight getting any compensation  :(

There's a guy in the office here that was due to fly with them next week. He's just grateful that he isn't stranded.

Im just reading about this further on the BBC website and you need to feel for this group......

"Also among those affected are a 130-strong choir on tour to Canada from Wales who were booked on Zoom and lost £50,000 when it folded last month, and then re-booked with XL. "

What sickens me is the way other airlines have suddenly increased their fares --- just seen on the news: A family due to fly out to Florida have witnessed other airlines Florida fares go from £300 to over £1000 in the space of half an hour !!!!!

i used XL for florida 2 years ago, its a shame how these companies can just fall apart with these consequences, do the public now have to pay for flights with someone else now?

Sorry to hear that mate -- but I guess better to find out now than at the airport -- or worse at the resort when you can't get home ( small comfort I know !)
