I still just have a paper licence...
Me too, it's falling to bits but it's valid till I'm 70.

Likewise -- but I guess if I change address at some point I will be forced to shell out for a photo one.

ive still got my paper one, have moved house a gazillion times since i got it, cant be bothered to send it back. its endorsed with all the speeding fines ive had so its a bit like a doodle pad to be honest. each time it gets sent away i get told 'you really should update this with your current details' and i dutifully say 'yes yes i will' knowing i have no intention of doing so. my license has a load of vehicles on it that would probably disappear if i sent it back for a newer one anyway. the only reason i can see for sending off for a new version would be if i required some additional photo id or something.

ha! anarchy!  ;D

You should do really as you can be fined upto £1000 for not disclosing you correct address.....

sod that, the 'ive just moved house and i havent got round to it yet' routine does the trick. ive had to produce my license so many times over the years, endorsements, producers etc and its never been an issue.

Hmm.. I didnt know that!

Only been driving 2 3/4 years.. so plenty of time left!

I thought mine was valid until I was 60 odd or something?  :o

Your licence TO DRIVE is valid until 65, however the DOCUMENT that proves it is only valid for 10 years, this is to ensure your photograph could actually appear to be something like you ...

Actually .. IMHO  a con by HMG/DVLA to subtract money every 10 years .... £17.50 admin fee just to change a photograph in a computer file and print a new "card" ....

and BTW ... they don't even play by their own rules .. I had my licence renewed, at my cost, with a new photo when my HGV/PCV qualifications were added in 2007, but the expiry date stayed 2010 !!! - 10 years since the photo licence was issued.

rip off britain .. thank you Mister Brown

Same here, I did not know about this, just checked.... 01.04.13 and I only got this last November when I got my HGV and PSV back, have to reaply soon as they only gave them back for a year >:(  (I should add, they were taken away for medical reason's, I did nothing wrong) :P

So did I but I got it back as they still had the records.

I suppose you just have to plead useless DVLA if you get another bike

Martin .. how long after they "mislaid" your details did you ask for them back ??  I was told, on more than one occassion as I went up the management chain, that the paper records are only kept for 3 years.. :(
