Arguably no need.

Technically he can still run even if convicted, and you could reasonably argue that he has actually been held to account for his actions and is therefore more electable than anyone the left can muster, especially good ole Sippy Cup/Caramela Harris/ AOC or any other Obummer clones.

As per the other thread, politics is in a dreadful state. In America, in the UK. No better here in Spain. Pedro Sanchez called a few years ago for Puidgmont to be sent to prison for organising an illegal referendum in Catalunia. Now he has orchestrated pardons in return for their votes in parliament so hecan stay in power. Passed 177 to 172 votes. Likewise the whole country is divided.

Im no big fan - although he is definitely the lesser of the two currently available evils - but this was obviously a political establishment punishment for having the audacity to take them on and win.
Its to try and stop him from doing it again, and a big warning to anyone who might think about doing it in the future.
The Kennedys, the Clintons and the Bidens have all had huge amounts of mud stick to them which make Trumps transgressions look like nothing, but they are/ were establishment insiders so virtually untouchable.
Trumps mistake was to think that once he too had held that office, he would also be untouchable.

If it was just a single payment then yes, but it was many many payments........most of which were to Cohen with associated invoices.............now if he had kept on side with Cohen

I haven't followed it too closely apart from gently reminding my Trump hating mates who crow that he's going to jail, that Stormy Daniels is not exactly someone of high morals and shouldn't be considered a reliable witness. 

You would think though that someone like Trumpy would have enough 'off books' cash and the ability to quietly pay a whore off without any comeback, so he's either as stupid as the haters say he is or he's telling the truth and it's a put up job to stop him running in the election. 

Given that the allegations of Biden family corruption are much worse than Trump quietly paying a whore off, I'm inclined to believe the latter.
