I thought the same thing when i read it this morning. Though calling up a tornado as a hit weapon does seem a bit tenuous.

He'd just spent years and millions of dollars clearing his name, so I think that the assassin theory is more likely. 

It is strange though.... 

There should have been at least one crew member on watch, who should have raised the alarm to batten down the hatches.

I did wonder yesterday - aquitted of all charges a few weeks ago, and dead in unusual circumstances now.

Besides, at night the hatches should all have been closed anyway and the presence of a storm shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone onboard given the recent weather in the western Med.
