Hello.
« on: 14 August 2025, 09:05:03 »

Hello. I,m not good with forums (or anything coputer wise come to that) so bare with me please.
My Omega is a low mileage 2003 2.216v cdx automatic estate. I bought it as a stop gap but it seams like a nice driver so it.s likely to stay a while. Bought it very cheap, I thought, but now discover brake parts are obsolite along with exhaust sections. It,s going to be a bit of a job I think to get it up to a high standard but with help from you good folks I will get there. I look forwards to to being here.

Hi, and welcome.

Exhaust parts are generally easily available from Poland from the likes of ETS, and tend to be significantly better quality than the last of the GM ones, which really were quite poor.  The don't sound tinny and nasty like, say, Bosal and the like.

Which brake parts are you struggling with?

Hi Grumpy. I,m looking for rear discs. It doesn,t realy need them, the ones fitted are corrored & noisey. The trouble is apparently that the solid discs are either obsolite or going to cost me£201 + vat each. I put a full set on an old P38 not long ago for £100 so I think it,s a bit strong. Iv'e got my son on the case now but he's not finding it too easy I think as he has not called back. Iv'e got 11 months till the MOT so I'm not fretting too much.

A lot cheaper than the ones you've been quoted for - coated too. Pagid are part of TMD Friction. I've fitted this make to other cars quite recently and found them to be ok :y

A very good price at ECP at the moment in their sale for the front discs too, and especially for vented rears for the 2.6 / 3.2 V6.....

Well thats odd Jonnydog, my 'local, Europarts told me the couldn't get them either. My son has come up with some from Aotodc. 2 x discs, pads & handbrake cable for £98, happy with that I suppose, still feels steep but there you go. Theu arrive on Wednesday, possibly.

Just a thought, is there a decent manual, not electric or Haynes, out there to be had for these beasties? Minor electrical faults might be easier to sort with a diagram. T I A

A subscription to GlobalTIS will get you a wiring diagram for 2002/2003, or an old copy of TIS2000 will give same info - but TIS2000 only really runs on old versions of 32bit Windows.

Although mostly similar to facelifted cars, the Haynes wiring only covers earlier cars up until about 1999.

Not aware of any other sources.

Mechanically, the 2.2 is very similar to the 2.0 16v which is covered in Haynes. Differences are fundamentally coil on plug rather than DIS and leads, drive by wire throttle and no EGR rubbish. Ignoring the nuances of trim, facelift cars share the same suspension etc so the rest of the manual is actually useful and the maintenance guides here cover most of the facelift specific stuff ;)

As for wiring, they're close to the mid facelift (later) models. Only significant differences is the location of the window switches.

And unlike newer Haynes manuals the Omega manual is detailed enough to be useful, even on later models. Just be aware that some of the wire colours vary... Although this is actually true of the factory diagrams.
