You remind me of my Uncle who when I was a kid would only ride British motorcycles. Bonneville's, Commando's etc.  He hated Japanese bikes and referred to them as Crapanese.  :)

One fateful day he took his latest Bonneville in for service and they convinced him to test ride a Suzuki GS850. He came home with it, never had a British bike again, and thought that Japanese bikes were the best thing since sliced bread!  ;D

I've not owned a British bike.

All Jap when I bought my first age 16. It was just old men who rode Brit bikes that leaked oil and wouldn't start.

However, I'd be happy to own a modern 3 pot 2500cc Triumph Rocket 3. :y

I often rode my mates Dunstall Norton Commando when I was 16 - until I got caught.
At  the time, the handling was a lot better than Jap bikes, but the vibration through the bars  and foot pegs was unbearable and forever causing bits to come loose and fall off.
Basically,it was a couple of decades out of date, and the build quality was atrocious. Just like most British cars at the time.
I borrowed a Trident for an hour (also when I was 16) and that was a lot better, but still felt like an old steam engine compared to Jap bikes.
Having said that my first Kawasaki triple blew the crank seals at quite low mileage which rendered the engine scrap.

According to my Lens Recognition App that's an IM5, sold over here as an MG EV.
Your "Hell will freeze over before I even consider an EV" statement requires a bit of fine tuning.  ::)  :)

I've certainly said something similar about derv, and I stand by that. :y

Correct. :y

Looks pretty generic to my eyes and I imagine most people would think it is a Tesla.

Dual motor version comes with 750BHP... :o :o :o :o

From the photos it actually looks ok'ish, apart from the Lego wheels, but then all EV'S appear to go down that route with the wheels.  :-\

Aerodynamics are very important for milk floats, even the wheels.

As is the rolling resistance of the tyres.

Hmm, maybe it’s the angle of your photos but I’ve just watched several reviews of the IM5 and none of them had LEGO wheels, just normal’ish alloys.  :-\
EDIT: Ah, It appears that the lower spec model has LEGO wheels.

Although the reviews come across as fairly ok, the steering wheel has just one scroll wheel on either side of the wheel. It appears that the complete menu for any car set-up or adjustments has to be selected from the lower screen using these scroll wheels but I may be wrong. How in the Lords name can that be deemed as safe. “Yes officer, I ran over those people because I was adjusting the settings to demist the screen/setting my cruise control etc, and it required six menu choices before I got to the one I wanted”.
Is this really the future.  :-\

Many so called 'progressive' car manufacturer's exchanged buttons for touchscreen to show where the future lay. Now customers are telling them they prefer   good old-fashioned buttons because they work better.

Buttons work better and car makers are starting to see the error of their ways.

Well if they stop sellotaping a big TV screen to the dashboard, that can only be a good thing!  ::)  :y

As is the rolling resistance of the tyres.
Hence the Tesla specific Michelin PS4 come with 6mm tread from new, rather than the standard 8.5mm

I hear low rolling resistance tyres have longer braking distances, especially when wet. :-\

Low resistance = low grip. Simples.

So our buddy Sir Tig is saving the world with his cheap, chiny tyres.  Not withstanding he crashes a lot, or drives slower than Tunnie.

Just watched a video from John Cadogen about the MG3 safety rating.

Went from 3 to 4 stars just by adding electrickery to it. Not withstanding that the drivers seat sheared off in multiple tests.

I would rather crash in a MK1 A Class than any Chinky shit box.

Absolfluckinglutely :y. At least I will be comfortable and happy.

Besides I would wager that even said A Class is safer than any Chinesium so should be ok in either of my current offerings.

If I was to buy another Merc I'd go down the traditional ye olde built from granite route.

300SEL 6.3....a proper cold war car. Or maybe even the later  450SEL 6.9. :y

The 6.9 in gunmetal with either a tan or navy interior would be my preferred classic of choice. Should have bought one in the late '90s when a mechanically sound 6.9 needing cosmetics was ~£2,500 ::)

Any really nice W116 would do though. Or a resto mod with the running gear from the w220 S500.
