Be aware, its still classed as public road, with a legally enforcable 70mph speed limit, and its not unusual for a camera van to be parked up, esp on that section where an A road runs parallel...

Oh dear.......but a few went past me going faster at the time! :D ;)

Will be watching my letter box (yet again) though for my first speeding ticket! ;D ;)

Should be speed limit free like the motorways before 1965 (I think).then it would be great fun.
many motoring magazines used to speed test their cars on the M1 in the early sixties....legally. :y :y

Agreed; it is an Express Way after all and we are paying extra for it ;) ;)

I think I would cough up to use it if they made it a "no speed limit"road. then again,so would everyone else so it would get dangerous.
RE; the Dartford tunnel, the charge was originally to cover build costs etc and was due expire a few years back.It was then extended to build up a fund for maintenance.this period expired araound 3 years ago (iirc) and the government decided to keep the charge as an anti pollution tax due to very high localised pollution. The only reason for the local pollution is the fact that all the cars/trucks have to stop or slow down to pay the toll. >:( >:( >:(.......motorcycles are exempt though. :)

I've used it a couple of times, and not bothered a couple of times. I think if you're not travelling at peak times it makes little difference, so not worth £4.50. It's nice that they've priced all the HGVs off it though.

.. and I'm very careful of my speed along there. You can nearly always spot a Police presence somewhere along there.

I find that it's well worth using during the day but late at night I still use the old road! :y :y
