I was 12 at the time, I used to go with my mate and his dad to stock car racing, his dad always had a Zephyr 6, but raced various cars. I can remember at this particular time he was racing a Ford Anglia, (I can even remember it been a $hitty green colour). Now this would'nt happen by todays standards, but at that time, it was more or less.......well who's to know. His dad raced the Anglia, then so did my mate, there was still some life left in it after being battered round the track by old Rover P5's and the likes. My mate talked his dad into letting me drive in the next race, I say race, it was more like a one for all round an oval mud track. I'd never driven before, never mind raced, but got the bottle from somewhere to get in next , so to speak.
I did'nt need clutch control or anything, I constantly got rammed and shoooooved round that track for the whole race, can't remember how many laps. It was fun, but also scary, but atleast I did'nt get rolled

This sort of thing when I was 12, is unheard of today, and no doubt very illegal

, those were the days.
For the young one's of today........... this is a Ford Anglia

Pushed around the track by the Rover P5
