Moto GP - result spoiler
« on: 28 September 2008, 20:29:20 »

History was made today - Valentino Rossi won the world chamionship. In doing so he became the best track rider ever. (I don't think I need to add 'IMO')

Congratulations Valentino. :y

I hope he does it again next year but Stoner, Pedrosa and Lorenzo are all up there. It is no foregone conclusion (like it was in F1 with Schumacher).

Moto GP - another absolutely great season of racing and there's another 3 to go.  :)

Was great to see. Rossi is the one our grandchildren will talk about ,just as we talk about Agostini etc;
He is probably the greatest of all time. although my own personal favourite bike racer will always be Joey Dunlop. :y

I would have to say my favourite rider was Barry Sheene & Mike Hailwood. Wish Murray Walker would come out of retiirement & comentate on moto GP would make it more interesting.

Eurosport commentary is o.k. (Randy Mamola), beeb is crap.
Forgot tomention Hailwood in the same breathe as Ago  :-[
Sheene was a gutsy tinker who always had a good quote at the ready.
i.e. - journo "Barry, what went through your head when you crashed at 175 mph"? - sheene "my arse"
when his crew ran to the scene of his big Daytone crash,assuming he was dead,he apparently opened one eye and said "ffs give me a ciggy"
And when asked about his philosophy for life, he said, "dont wait for your ship to come in,swim out and meet the tinker".
A real star. :y
