in my experience both my cars have suffered with scratches in the position of the spring contact point, 3 "springs" (is it?) hence 6 higher pressure contact points where the scratches wear is concentrated,to me this indicative of the design and is BOUND to mark the screen eventually, and before you start i change my wipers twice a year.
These new single blade wipers have no such springs and would appear to give a more even pressure across the screen, for that reason i will be trying a set next time. esp if i get a heat reflective wind screen. :-/
Oh, and i have yet to encounter a set of wipers, genuine or other wise that touched all the screen in the far left bottom corner, so i don't think there will be any great loss there.
they may well be crap on the mig, but having encountered them on my Mrs's golf i very much doubt it. Got to be worth a try.
