PS3 sound problems
« on: 10 October 2008, 18:54:19 »

Hi,

Some techy help needed here.

I have a PS3 setup via HDMI to my full HD SEG flatscreen.  I have no sound at all coming through the TV.  My other TV peripherals such as Sky adn DVD work ok but not the PS3

It was working ok and I have tried to reselect the HDMI audio output again but to no avail......

...am I being really stupid here?

Try optical to your receiver/amplifier

So you have selected HDMI as the sound output through the settings on the playstation itself?  Weird problem so.

You can try a reset by powering on the PS3 by pressing the power button and then hold it until the light flashes.  This may help.

They are not too bad - cheaper than an XF ;D

But then I spent £475 on an amp and a lot on speakers.

Only ever used optical with our PS3

Knowing Sony, everybody else has got the HDMI std wrong, and have come out with their own, incompatible one.  Maybe if you had a labotamy, and bought a Sony TV it would work.  Or Sammy could sort it all out....

Joking aside, I seem to recall HDMI v1.2 introduced some audio incompatibilities....

i thought we where on version 1.3 now? some lesser cables dont carry 5.1 true hd. have you had an update recently? sometimes the settings get changed during update process. maybe check sound settings are set to something the tv can decode.i doubt it has any 5.1 compatability.
