« on: 11 November 2008, 20:36:14 »

After having blood tests, ecg and xrays ive now found out what is causing all the pain in my chest. high amount of acid in my stomach and my chest, have hardly eaten in 2 weeks as the pain has been unbearable.no drink and not sleeping, hopefully with all this medication the've given me it will clear up. been so tired and run down and still trying to make a living and take care of me lad. let him down a bit not being able to take him golf and out anywhere so will make it up soon  :)

Well done Richie.

That you know it's not (that) serious is a bonus. Plenty more rounds in you yet  :y

Good luck for getting it sorted.

About time too, you were advised by members some time ago to seek medical attention.

Pleased you have, there comes a time when you have to look after yourself, even when you think you your responsibilities first. Your son will be the first to complain if you pop your cloggs cos you took him to play golf, second would be oofers ;)

Do what the doctors say, talk it over with your son, I belief he is of an age that he would understand you need to take it easy for a while.

Take it from someone with experience.

Hope things :y work out and that your recover quickly.....

Hope that the medication works but if not, please go back and say it hasn't.., sometimes it can take a bit of time for medical professionals to get it right.

Hope u feel better soon.

mr rich.  I have been suffering problems similar to yours since the beginning of the year. been on meds for almist all that time now.  if its any conscerlation it will get better, it just takes time.  i was advised at least 8 weeks before any noticeable improvement.  just don't let it get you down.  Just remember to keep taking your drugs.

all the best

ive been given Lansoprazole, gaviscon and codiene. its a possibility i have duodenal ulcers. the lanso are making me very sick and dry and cannot sleep. if there is no improvement by friday i have to go back to a&e. reason ive only just gone to hosp is my doc told me i had pulled a muscle, but it was only cause the pain has spread across my chest and stomach, and ive been having trouble breathing i got worried it was more than just a muscle pull.   :(

I am on Omaprazole for the same reasons -- the sickness wears off quite quickly and the relief is worth it !!!! Keep a glass of water by the bed and just take a sip now and then ( don't drink it or you will be peeing all night!)  Gaviscon is bl**dy awful ( and IMO doesn't work) I use milk of magnesia in a little milk ( but be careful -- too much of that is laxative!).

Mr Dusty has something similar.

He had a lot of regurgitation of his food..lots of burping and a stinging pain in his right bicep.

This went on for a long time ,but Mr Dusty being Mr Dusty refused to see the doctor, adding this was for neurotic women and hypochondriacs only.

Eventually after about 4 years of this I persuaded Mr Dusty to go  to see the doctor.

He was immediately sent for an endoscopy, which he had without any form of sedation, and samples were taken from his stomach for analysis.

The camera on the end of the endoscope showed that Mr Dusty had "chronic inflamation" of his stomach lining and a bacteria called H.pylori (Helicobacter pylori).

He has since been given Lansoprazole which has helped matters considerably...much less regurgitation and stinging pains in his right arm.

Mr Dusty tells me that an endoscopy without sedation is a deeply unpleasant experience to be avoided if at all possible.

This could all have been sorted out much quicker if Mr Dusty had seen the doctor earlier.....Men. :-* :-* :-*

Been there, done that, had the op. Apparently I had reflux for quite some time and because it was never a 'real' problem I just ignored it. Then after endless nagging from the other half I got checked over and had developed Barrats syndrome which can have some very nasty results if left. Fortunately after a bit of keyhole surgery the main cause was sorted (weak valve at the top of the stomach) and the 'camera down the throat' checks since have shown the Barrets has receded.
All I have to do now is avoid dairy fats as I can't digest them properly (Gall bladder was also removed due to stones) so I'm officially a wreck and can't even console myself with some Ben & Jerrys Cherry Garcia....total bummer   :( :'(

It is a typical man thing to ignore potential problems.

See your doctor if you think that something is not right as soon as possible. :-* :-* :-* :-*

More than one doctor has suggested that this is the reason for the gap in life expectancy between men and women.

I still don't like 'em. Poking this and prodding that...  :(
