It didn't take long to find one...
« on: 16 November 2008, 23:01:11 »

Won an ebay auction for a 98 2.5 CDX Estate yesterday.(pic in gallery)Exhaust blows a bit,one tailgate strut u/s,couple of tiny paint scabs...but it drives lovely,a/c is icy cold, stereo works etc..,so now I need some advice:after rectifiying the little defects listed, what should I spend the rest of my budget on?...(before the missus finds out I've got some dosh left over.. ;D)

A fine looking car. Particularly like that blue.

Spending the rest...?

Cam belt kit. £110
HBV. £30
Crank sensor. £30.
DIS pack. £120.
Cam cover gasket set. £62.

These seem to be the inevitable cost of owning a petrol Miggy, you might as well buy the bits up front. £350.  :( :( :(

Still, nice motor and I like the tints. Adds class IMO.  :y

Hi Dan,

Nice car. Tints are good!

Where in Bedford are you? Until now I've been a lonely Bedford member, good to see another one. Bung your marker on the OOF Map if it isn't there already.

As above, do the cam-belt etc. that's the best bet; by the time you're finished you won't have much dosh left, but you'll have a car you KNOW you can rely on. :y

A little to the east of Bedford actually, not far from the A1.Bought the car from Kempston so you might have seen it in town already. Is there a local group/meet round this area?

I'm on the East side of town, but just inside.

Local meets? I think the nearest official OOF one is the Midlands meet. The location of which you can see on the OOF Map.

Get yourself on there! (PM me if you need the password)

We could always have an unofficial meet sometime if there's ever outstanding jobs to do I personally find them easier to do with some moral support even if the other person is working on their own stuff. :y

Crank sensor, its always worth carrying a spare because you never know when its going to go.
Wishbones, drop links, steering idler and 4 wheel alignment could save you a few bob in tyres ;)
