I am advising against IE7
« on: 22 December 2006, 14:56:47 »

After using it for a couple of weeks now, I am firmly adivising everyone I know not to install IE7.  I really love the tabs, but it just does not download pages reliably.  At least 1 in 4 page downloads crash or come out as gibberish.  Even worse, pictures and documents are corrupted during the download.  I sometimes have to use another computer to download intact word documents and PDF's.  Sometimes I have to clear my history/files in order to see webpages b/c it re-uses the same corrupt pics, etc.  My dad wants an MP3 player for xmas so I thought that I'd look at the Zune, but after several tries I couldn't get their own microsite to come up correctly so screw them.

I guess I'll be installing Firefox until MS comes up with a fix, b/c I can't be bothered to strip it out.  I don't want to end up installing XP all over again.

It's strange, some people seem to have problems with it & some don't.
I've had it since beta (now full) & not had a problem. I use Firefox though 'cos it's faster  :y
Tried WMP11 beta & had all kind of probs & got rid, installed full version last week & works fine....

I've had no probs at all with IE7. Took a little bit of getting used to, and I found the "Do you want to share your clipboard?" a bit annoying, but happy with it now.

BTW I had no choice, I have my comp set to auto download.....and it did!

I clicked save instead of run and it downloaded it.  However, the file must be corrupt because it crashes when I try to run it.

Thanks, but I'm not on MSN.  I downloaded it again.  Now it says can't extract, file corrupt.  I guess I'll just have to keep trying.

You could try to get the file by ftp. If ie is corrupting it the ftp approach may solve your problem.

The download window says it is an ftp site.  Don't know another way to download.  Tried 10 times now and always corrupt.

I would think so, standard XP pro.  I just need to fire up the Mac and download it onto a USB stick.
