I've seen the oher thread but, how did you do it?  

I stuck a small screw driver into the palm of my hand one night at work, just below my wedding ring. I stemmed the blood flow & just carried on with a big piece of blue roll wrapped around it  . Not as bad as other tales of nearly pegging it, but the following day my hand looked like an inflated rubber glove. Saw A+E junior doc who presribed the weakest anti-biotics on the shelf & off I went back home. A few days later when I saw a more senior doctor he wanted to admit me as my had hadn't reallt reduced in size.
