GOLF BAG TROLLY AND ELECTRICAL ADVICE PLEASE.
« on: 05 December 2008, 20:45:24 »

Evenin' all, I'm in the middle of building a hand truck. At the moment it is driven by the running gear of a 12V golf bag trolley, but I would like to make it 4WD 8-) by adding another driven axel.
1st question is: could I wire another motor through the existing speed control unit (this would be better for getting equal axel speeds)or would I have to wire them independently ?
2nd question is: the speed control unit has three led lights, red, blue and green that illuminate independently can anyone tell me what the different colours indicate ?
TIA Regards Tony

Controllers - could investigate what they use in fighting robots as golf carts are a common motor source - except golf carts cannot crush things

Thanks Martin but it's not the sit on and drive type buggy, it's the dump your golf bag on type then pull to steer

Hmmm...consider that by wiring the motors in parralelt that you are now doubling the current through the controller.....and it might not be rated for that much!

As for running twin controllers, its dependent on the motor (shunt or series) type but, should not cause any major issues.

Thats what was concerning me Mark, the running gear is rated at being capable of coping with a 30% incline laden, I intend to use the truck on the flat so I wonder what the current draw comparison would be ? :-/
