A million people!
« on: 10 December 2008, 13:19:31 »

Argh, this winds me up.  The government is 'restructuring' benefits to get a million people back into work.  What complete fukwits!  A million jobs are going to magically appear, especially with the economy the way that it is?!?  I completely agree with encouraging people to work, but this is insane!  >:(

Yes, I saw there was another thread but it is 3 pages long and I'm too cross to read the whole thing.  :P

I may wrong by saying what i say, but ill stand by it. If we didn't have as many immigrants as we do, there would be lots of jobs. British jobs=British workers

I completely agree with that!  Then the government is actually 'creating' some of these million jobs . . .

the thing is, its all bout the figures, they may be reconstructing the benefits, they will reconstruct the benefits in such a way that it hides the true amount of people on the dole, ie, say 1 million on dole, but recatagorise 100,00 as a different benefit, there for the figures look better, the fikwuts look better on paper, the problem is the wool is not thick enough to cover our eyes any more, the only way forward for the government is thru the exit. at the end of the day, you cant compensate for the lazy bastards of this world, there are the jobs out there, and there are more than enough jobs for every one in this country, its the lazy sods that just want to spend years on the dole, also there are the junkies, imho, if you are put out of work then ok thats rough but then most people would look and get a new job, imho, any one who is on the dole for more than 2 month is either not looking or totally unemployable, at which point i would make them do work in the community, paint fences or do the gardens of the elderly, quite frankly i dont care if it sounds draconion but thats me, get tough and be tough, life is not a free ride. :(

The sentiment might be correct -- but the fact is that the British Yoof don't want to work --- lets face it -- if all those unemployed were actually wanting to work there would be NO vacancies advertised in the job centres, recruitment agencies or papers -- the JOBS are there -- the british workers are not !!!!  Hence the immigrants come over and take those jobs which we apparently do not want !!!!!

and apprentaships for the kids too, i dont think they have any future in this country now, they used to be able to get part time jobs at 14, nothing to look forward to when they leave school except jobs in supermarkets

I don't know what the job situation is like in Britain now but suspect it is going to get worse i.e. less jobs available before it gets better.

The Spanish system has merit but I don't know if it would work in Britain. Here you do community works for 15 days each year for example. That work is organised by the local mayor (every village or town has one) and includes work like:

cleaning out gutters, painting the village hall, repairing village hall boundary walls, improving roadside gutters by laying concrete and so on. I believe that the locals get the chance to make suggestions of what could be done.

the next large village has a flotilla of women who take the elderly out for walks, do house visits, cleaning and fetching shopping.

The reason i don't think it would work in Britain is the community spirit is a bit lacking and people would see it as some sort of "prison sentence" rather than an opportunity to do some good for the community.

there is no community spirit any more, its more of everyman for himself i think, and i reckon thats how the gvt like it,spying on yer neighbours, grass someone up if there doing something, cameras everywhere, no trust anymore, dont want people, to get on, or stand together as it could be a threat, like the strikes  were yrs ago

Maybe its me!  But what actually attracted you to our country in the first place? Was it our get people back to work strategies or the fact that not being native means you automatically qualify for a job! :-?
