Ok my computer was really slow and someone at work suggested i get rid of McAfee which was slowing it down :o>Got rid of it and my computer is alot better but the problem is i have no security on it. Now my knowledge on computers is crap and i can only do basic things on computers ie switch on and off :P. Can someone suggest an easy program to download from the net that is reliable and secure to protect my computer from those nasty viruses out there. Stress easy to download :-X

Free AVG  Antivirus :  http://free.avg.com

Free Sygate firewall : http://www.tucows.com/download.html?software_id=213160&file_id=90233

Sygate was one of the best free firewalls, so good that Symantec (Norton) bought out the company and stopped all work on the product. This is the last version made and is a simple but VERY effective software firewall. Most importantly .. it is VERY user friendly

agreed avg anti virus is a good anti virus
all try a program called spybot just run it once a month
if you want it let me know and ill tell you where to get it from

Anti spyware. This is also a good piece of kit. AVG & Spybot work very well together & i would recommend installing them both. I've had the two on my laptop for some time & the laptop before that with good results :) :) :)

YUP!!! AVG & Spybot....an unbeatable combination.
Both free, both get regular updates.
Have not had a single problem since I swopped over to these two..unlike 'snorton' and 'crapafee'  ;D

Avast or AVG,
Ad aware and spybot
I also recommend http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html?Str=download the free one is enough for most but the pro one has some other features :y

not sure how true it is but i was told that norton and mcafee are programs that are built and run by hackers
mainlly ones that are doin time

I've always used Zone alarm as my firewall. Very good, and free.
