Just spent £650 in a motorcycle shop, was only going to get some boots, and maybe some gloves, ended up getting boots, gloves, wind protector, helmet and a jacket.

Was pleased with the boots, waterproof and non chavvy looking for £115

Got a craking deal on a Shoei helmet, was £399, cause it was last years graphics £199, plus they had 10% off, so £180.

Got Dainese jacket and some super warm gloves, again last years style so cheaper. Went outside in it all, did not feel a thing, felt the same as inside the house.

Got my DAS next week, and i thought its its going to be this cold i need the propper gear!

Just making sure it all fitted well before removing them.

I did see some helmets there for £79.99 but a brand i never heard. The £400 helmets where a bit scary, but when he brought out ones the same make for half the price i was sold, not fussed about the graphics, and even my dad said Shoei was a good make.

The weather was part of the reason i bought all the gear, the jacket and helmet on the CBT where a little ill fitting, so i thought it would be good to get my own stuff.

Besides rental stuff prob had loads of people sweating away in it

Most people either buy market leaders Shoei and Arai, they usually either fit one or the other, rarely both. Provided it fits and has acu gold sticker and the relevent eu stamps it will be fine. The rest is paint and air vents, although visor mechanism is very important. Had Shoeis myself and only issue i had was they did away with the clip/seat belt style buckle, which i found much easier than the D rings with cold hands. It should have a pin lock visor insert and breath guard to stop it misting which works well. Make sure you know how the vents and visor mechanism works before you ride. I bought an Arai once and wore it straight from the shop. Visor misted within 50 yards and couldnt open it. Aaaah.

Oh and cover that gap between your gloves and sleeve or your hands will fall off with the cold, or the gloves will fill with water if it rains. Not nice.

Never scrimp on gear and tires. Your plastic tire theory  for cars will get you in trouble on a bike.

You look the very image of Steve Plater. Which is a good start. Bit taller maybe. Best of luck tunnie. Look out for them, they wont look out for you.

Luke i am your father!!!!!.....cue imperial march music....  Plus i used dainese and shoei and arai lids for many years when i worked as courier kept me warm and safe all through the winter even when i came off at 30mph on wolvo ring road cause of a fuel spill i put a hole in my sleeve of my jacket still 100% waterproof cause of the way dainese design their kit and the body armour did its job...... 8-)
