I am *extremely* tempted to just offer them £2k for it, and say thats what parkers, glass, etc, all say its worth...

I'd say go for it! If they turn you down, leave a number, and in 6 months when they haven't sold it they'll bite your arms off for 2k... at which point you can offer them a grand.  ;D
