Didn't they do a KH400 too?
yep, and a 500 and 750 - all 2 stroke triples,then of course there was the 900 z1 - 4 cylinder/4 stroke.
Kwaks were and probably still are my favourite bike manufacturer, always made hooligan bikes.
Talking of 70,s bikes,my mate  has a Laverda Jota as his road bike and races a 70,s TZ350 yamaha(the one that used to win the 250/350 world championship every year) he also races a 80,s 350 lc.
Had a ride on the TZ and the Elsie last year- great fun, just like the old days. :)

Wasn't a huge fan of Kawasaki's been honest although the z900 was very nice... oh and the KR1s was nice
I liked Elsies obviously, RG 500's, RGV 250, RD500 :y

There is a bloke across the road who has one of those, it sounds nice when he revs it up... he also has a Triumph 2300cc that sounds like a hotrod  ;D

The elsie is fun,I think its about 60bhp,and weighs break all, anything that can be taken off has been. The TZ is even faster but its quite rare and valuable so I didnt thrash it too hard as I didnt want to have to pay for it.
The Jota was the fastest thing you could buy in the mid 70,s but it is a bit tame by modern standards,my cbr leaves it for dead.

Top speed on the Jota was over 140,which in the mid seventies was bloody fast.
Couldnt believe how stiff the suspension was on the TZ,every time it went over a bump it felt like the rear shock top mount was attempting to sodomise me. ;D ;D

All this bike talk is bad for the bank balance... I sold my CBR600FX to a dealer in Chelmsford almost exactly 4 years agm because my new house didn't have a garage! I've missed having a bike dearly since then but can't justify getting another untill I've got a garage and sorted out the 5 cars on the drive :o :o ::) ::)

Good going - I passed in 1980 at the age of 17

1974 for me......... on a Honda CB250 K4........ :y :y :y

I took my test on a GP100, all we could afford as my parents didn't have a car at the time so bought a cheap bike which I was responisble for ALL running costs and I helped towards the money out of summer jobs.

Yes I did live miles from anywhere and my parents dumped the car to save money, mum had a C90 dad a GS850

You must have been a shadow of yourself then   ;D :D ::) :P

i passed my bike test at 17 on a rd125dxpre rdlc days never look back fastest things on the road bikes and you dont have to spend 100k to embarass car drivers

When I passed my test in 1988 my Mum and Dad bought me a GSX 250 which I was pleased about. I went on the Egg Run (which thousands of bikers ride around Stoke-on-Trent picking Easter Eggs off people at the side of the rode for Charity) and an RD125 came blasting past me.. I was gutted the Suzuki was loads bigger. I had the GSX250 less than a fortnight. I then had a bank loan and my first RD350 YPVS N1, what a bike awesome. They are fetching heavy money now if you have a good one.

I ran a GS250T for a few years, not quick but cheap and comfy.

I bought a GSX250 for £50 - repaired it (carb spring required plus exhaust) got 100 out of it then sold to a neighbour, only used it when my 600 was off the road requiring a tyre - Pireeli shredded in 1000 mile, Michelin lasted 5000 and gripped better

KH250. What a bike. Before you all dive in & say what was faster or handled better, yeah fair go but the KH was my fave bike for the size & time for pure grin factor. The 3 sets of points were a bitch to keep right & the centre pot had a mind of it's own from cold, usually deciding to kick in on a roundabout when you were on full throttle on two cylinders shooting you out of the next exit whether you meant to go that way or not with a scream to die for. not to mention getting hot in a straight line cos the front wheel kept the wind off.

But when they were good they were the bollix in the late 70's! 8-)

I used to know an owner and it kept cuttting out, ended up with me giving his pillion a lift and hitting a genuine 80 2 up on the 100

well i have survived another day!

Spent the entire day going around the industrial estate practicing everything!

More confident turning the ER5 now, can turn it tigher, feel i have more control. gear changes becoming more natural and fluid.

Still slipping/feathering the clutch in slow speed stuff, (turn in the road, fig of 8) but i also use it when in 2nd turning into junctions to keep the bike under control. Also when pulling out on first, its being feathered until i am on the correct side of the road.

Off to Banbury tomorrow learning the test routes!
