Its great out on the roads, esp out the lanes out the back of mine :D, just dont tell her it was her car I used ;D

I did see a PO van down the road with half an hedge hanging out of what was left of the bumper, so guess (s)he'd had an interesting morning...

Most likely a woman. ;D ;D :y

A trawl through the archives reveals that on 17th May 1955 was probably the most notable May snowfall on record. Much of England and Wales was affected by several hours of snow (Eden 1995), including two to three hours’ worth in the London area (Brazell, 1968).

i think this is the one they were on about  :y :y

Father in Law is out in a town about 50 miles from home until about 10 ish tonight... Mother in Law asked me to relieve her of baby sitting duties tonight for a couple of hours so she can go and collect him... I've said no, I'll in and get him because the roads out that way are very exposed. I'm not letting a lady in her 60's out on such treacherous roads, especially as there's more snow forecast and she's not exactly confident driving in bad weather (or the dark if truth be known?)

Think I made the right decision as they've just said on the radio that police have issued a warning for said roads! :o :o :o

We had snow over night like most of the country.

I remember the snow in the 80's but the snow in the late 70's was my most memoerable.  In 77 one of the roads to work was a downhill stretch, a bend and then up hill to a higher level.

I was only 16 so my Dad was driving me to work.  We had a automatic and driving was slow, the bonus was not many had ventured out so next to no traffic, but no gritters.  We got to these 2 hills which were my Dads major concern and we were following a mini and benefitting from knowing where the kerbs were from his driving.

Anyway, my Dad decided to let the Mini go on his own in case he got stuck therefore we would not get stuck behind him.  Off went the Mini, gained a bit of speed with the idea to carry momemtum up the hill the other way.  The mini gor so far down and dissapered into the snow completely.

My Dad turned the car arround and went home. ;D ;D :y
