I think every car should have this 'extra'.

Sod that, I despise them!

cause horrific glare, I hate them and would not but any car with one fitted.

Give me a headache looking though them even when turned off, far worse when on.

Educate me, I've never driven a car with one fitted.

Think physics and defraction gratings......then realise that they dont clear the side windows so save little time if you want to drive safely anyway!

I'm with you Jimbob... I find them dreadful!!!

Add to tat Mark's comments about clearing the side windows and you have the answer as to why most company's don't bother. In fact, I seem to recall that they are Illegal in Scandinavia, hence why Volvo's and Saabs don't have them :-/ :-/

experinced them in various different aged mondeo's

The very latest ones do seem better, but I still find them overly distracting and irritating.

on a side note, I also find the old sony trinitron monitors (and similar) annoying as I always see the damping wires which most people never notice.

Got it on the Cat and love it.  I have 20/20 vision and I am not put off by it at all even on the long journeys.  It doesnt have it on the side windows but once i switch the car on and scrape the side windows the front and rear are clear.  I think it is mainly to stop you from scratching the front screen by scraping it and also handy for when its really cold and moisture in teh air freezes on contact with the screen (like yesterday)  heat the screen up and it stops.  :y
