I don't find anything offensive about those, as long as said soldier knew him well enough to know no offensive intended (of course, if offence was intended, thats different).
Within my small team at work we have Asians, Arabics, South Africans, and 2 suspected shirt lifters.... ....you should hear some of the things we call each other - no offense intended or taken. The do-gooders usually report one of us regularly, but the complaint goes nowhere, as the 'victim' isn't the slightest bit worried about it, knowing there is no macilious intent.
Saying that, a prank went badly wrong on Friday - hacked one of the suspected gays personal website (illegal, I know) into a gay dating site, and secretly told all his aquiantances the url

. No issue with that, just got the abuse when he found out, but then I got the blame for a genuine site about a 'difficult' subject that just happened to be a (non techical) colleges name, and she thought it was a spoof site about her..... .....I'll have to sort out the aftermath of that on Monday
