Stopped by Police
« on: 12 January 2009, 08:34:57 »

I was stopped by the police who said I was driving with my front fog lights on, I thought they were spot lights - they show green on the dash and the fog lights generally show orange on the dash - I did argue with him and said that I did not have fog lights on, was I wrong.....Pauline

The fog light excuses have well and truly dried up when it comes to the cops, If you had pleaded ignorant and appologised politely they would have given you a friendly warning, Arguing with officers only gets their backs up and rouses other suspisions ("why is h/she behaving erraticaly") and can ultimately lead to being charged for the offence.

I learnt my lesson as a kid, and now show respect even if the officers can be intimidating.

Hopefully you just got a warning, but remember they are not "look at me lights"

that or you have the older style clocks, meaning your switch should light up green instead. you should be able to tell if you shine a torch at the clocks and you can see the outline of the front fog symbol

All cars with front fogs use a green indicator to show they are on.  What is odd is, unlike the rears on most modern cars, I have never been in a car that resets them to off next time you start the car.

Up to 1997, indicator on the switch itself, 1998 on, indicator on dash.

Mine kind of does - you need full beam on to have fogs on ( cant drive with side lights and fogs together) So when you stop, and turn off lights, by way of the set up, fogs also go off.

When you continue driving fogs are off untill you put on headlights back on and select fogs again....
