Just joined a new forum on a work related site. Just replied to a post,  does not go straight on, all posts go via a moderator, wont me much general chat then. ::)
Tis a good forum for info though, workwise and I found it by accident. ::) ::) ::)

Been on a few sites like that, both privately and through work.  Depends on the quality of posters, both in whats 'the norm' and others assisting mods if something posted is crossing the line, so to speak.

The posts through a mod thing tends to keep the forums really sedate and slooooow moving, ime...

Tis a good forum for info though, workwise and I found it by accident. ::) ::) ::)
Not uncommon on some very specific/niche, tends not to happen on larger forums (though some may have specific threads that need approval before showing a post)

Several of the Family History Forums (Fora ?? ) I have belonged to do that --- sometimes had to wait days for the post to appear in full !!!!

Some did it for the first 20 or so posts (just to get you settled in I guess) after which it was straight online as soon as posted.

Chatting today at the north west meet about OOF regarding posts I know the moderation is "on the ball" however since the birth of the forum I have never witnessed a "locked post" which just goes to show what a friendly bunch OOF members are :y

That's interesting, wonder if that is the case, was my first post and I could have been anybody. Also used works email address so if they have tried to contact me to verify, I will not get it till tomorrow. I used my works address cos that kind of confirms who I am. :y
