« on: 20 February 2009, 18:05:28 »

got the news today that the firm I've now worked 20 years for is closing at the end of the year. It employed 400 people when I first started, now it's about 120.

Soon be looking forward to a new challenge

: :((Sympathies. 20 yrs service & 10 months notice should secure you another position somewhere. I've had no pay rise for a while now but we're getting through, that's all you can ask nowadays.
Seems this time round it's not just the blue collars getting stiffed but the "suits" aren't safe either. :(

Yeah sorry to see you are gonna be out off work , seems  to be to much of this going on at the moment and it isn't going to get any better in the near future. They are going to lay off 30 odd managers and up to 100 workers in sheerness docks in the next month of so , dont see any polititons getting laid off. Roll on the next election and they will find out how a lot of workers feel >:( >:(

Bugger - good luck in the future bud!

Same thing happened to me some years back when the National Bus Co was privatised. Found myself out of a job after nearly 20 years - not a nice feeling shall we say.

Whatever, all the best mate.
