Do you like my new Purchase?
« on: 22 February 2009, 19:22:45 »

Custom made for the 406 Estate, by a company called Barjo, who do a lot of dog related products for vehicles.

As well as the rear seat metal dog guard, which fits like a glove and is super, I also have a rear tailgate guard, with a lockable/removable door.

This means that the boot can be opened (Eg, when camping) to give the dogs air and light, but they cannot get out and cannot easily be stolen, if locked. Also extremely handy on Main roads, when opening the tailgate for any reason, it stops the dogs from darting out into traffic....

What do you think? T'was an ebay bargain which we collected from Norfolk yesterday. Took less than 30 mins to fit both guards:

The previous owner of my Astra could have done with one of those to stop  his mut from getting IN the back of the car. I've owned it now for 2 years, scrubbed it out several times, jet washed the carpet & side panels from the back .... and it STILL stinks of wet Alsation dog!  :o  :o :(   :y  :y

I looked into something similar for the omega estate that I had at the time, In the end our dog passedaway before we got one, but Its an almost essential piece of equipment, our dog used to dart out the car as soon as the latch was popped open, and being a great hulk of a german shepherd there was no stopping her.

Pretty good -- I see the central panel fits with expandable posts, how does the rear tailgate guard fasten to the car ???

Drilling holes, and big screws. Hence the need to get it right first time  ;D

Who pulled your chain  ;D

The biggest advantagte of having this, is that the tailgate can be opened, to let air in etc, but keep the dogs contained. EG, when we're on a campsite eating and such.  :y

Without one, the hound can potentially jump out when the tailgate is opened - have this prob with Mrs H21's 307.  Got a crate in the estate though so already has a seperate door to stop the pooch leaping out with the tailgate open....   ;)
