Its going to be a batter feast tomorrow, what with it being 'Tuesday Chip Night' in the TB household.  Always have fish and chips on a Tuesday, thats the law (obviously, not being a girl or gay, I have a pie etc rather than fish).

Christianity-wise: The name Shrove comes from the old word "shrive" which means to confess. On Shrove Tuesday, in the Middle Ages, people used to confess their sins so that they were forgiven before the season of Lent began.
Shrove Tuesday is the last day before Lent and is 47 days before Easter Sunday.

Lemon & sugar is my fave as well but works with savouries, ie left over bolognase, chilli, curry etc. Stir fried bamboo hoots, peppers mushrooms & spring onions fried in a little soy, garlic & ginger make an easter pancake roll, or finely diced potatoes, peas any meat (or not for veggies) pinch of cumin, coriander, turmeric & chilli make an Indian somosa mix.
    The possibilities are endless.
