Tesco's 10yr Islay single malt
« on: 23 February 2009, 22:59:30 »

Has anyone bought any of this recently? I know it's not exactly the most expensive single malt you can buy but I've just opened a bottle of it and the best thing I can compare it to is ..... TCP! :-?
I've had the 12 year stuff before & thought it was not bad, but this 10 year old  :o  :o  :o

edited to get shut of the childish word filter altering out a perfectly acceptable abreviations!

If you taste TCP then thats the seaweed/salt/iodine element.  Quite common with the Islay malts, I find....

Try Laphroaig.  Dearer, but certainly gives you TCP.....   ;)

Imagine your watching Oz Clark & James May doing the British Drinks thing on the telly....  Or Jilly Goolden waxing lyrical about some far flung distant flavour in whatever she is currently drinking.

Sometimes I 'taste' TCP when drinking some of the Island malts but its only my brain/memory kicking in reminding me of what it smells like, if you follow....  ;)
