irmscher sports stars 8x18 ET30
« on: 08 March 2009, 04:43:24 »

8x18 ET30 size i presume. No idea what i am doing with wheels. never bought any before. What does et30 mean? Got a chance of a set of sport stars, they are recommended fitment, according to the bloke selling.

May be a set of 17inch elite 03 wheels going soon... with 5k old tires. :y

ET is short for Einpresstiefe (rough translation is insertion depth) and it's the value of the offset in mm. ET30 is 30mm positive centre I.E. 30mm towards the outer edge. For a rear wheel drive you want as low (or negative) as possible ET. HTH. :y

Er, so they are 8 inchs wide , where the originals are
7 and on top of that the tread is 30 mill nearer to the outside of the car. So giving a 60 mill wider wheel base/track overall..?

The wheels are an inch (25mm) wider so half each side makes 25mm overall. ET 30 is positive so it'll make it 30mm narrower track, so 60mm overall narower minus the 25mm = 45mm narrower. Try the calculator, it does all the math for you ;) :y

It is on Vx's, under the centre cap usually.

its raining so ill do both offsets rather than go look

if my offset is 35      then stars should give 8mm less inboard and
                                                             18mm more outboard

if my offset is 45   then stars should give 2mm more  inboard and
                                                             28mm more outboard

unless i am being thick again
