Removing Oil from Plugwells
« on: 10 March 2009, 21:17:13 »

I recently had the dreaded oil in plugwells so i did the breathers and gasket etc ... to remove the oil from the plugwells i basically soaked it all up using kitchen roll etc  ... couldnt see the plugs at all for oil but i persevered and got 99% of it out  :-/ .... anyway i did think at the time of just removing the plugs but i was afraid of all that oil going down the cylinders in one go ..... would it have done any harm ? ..... if not i can do that if it happens again  :y

Could have turned the engine over with the plugs out and kitchen roll/cloth over the holes to catch the oil....   :)

I Used a thin plastic pipette thingy to suck the oil out of the wells

I wouldnt worry about a small amount of oil burning off through the exhaust.
Its excessive petrol that will kill the cats.
Anyway you have missed the chance of rust proofing the exhaust from the inside............................... :o
