I work in IT support for a College.  Bit of a change from my previous employment, I used to be a lorry driver (hence the name 'Cybertrucker').

I never blame the oil companies for the high price of petrol/diesel.  They have to find it, drill it out, transport it, refine it, and deliver it to a Morrison's near you.  Then along comes the government and says "We'll have a slice of that action" and puts duty on.  And then puts VAT on the top, so you're paying tax on tax.  This is why around 75% of the cost of fuel is tax and goes to the govt.  If you want to see what fuel really costs see what the Yanks are paying for it, or see what you can buy red diesel for.  The difference doesn't go to nasty profiteering oil companies, as some would have us believe, it goes to the collection of charlatans and con-men that passes for our government.

Software and Commissioning Engineer for Injection Moulding Automation systems...
Really? Who for?
Engel?
Staubli?
Third party integrator?

I spend my life with Engels that make moulds for making contact lenses with.  :y
None of the above...G-MAT.  If the product can stand it, our robots can pull 12g...before i started, they managed to make IMM's fault because they were being told to close before they'd finished opening..
There are a few of our machines with negative takeout times.

Usually bigger stuff than contact lenses, but going to commission one that handle hyperdermic needles tomorrow..
LOL, that can get expensive... For the robot hand or end effector if you are lucky... Have you ever pushed a machine over? Only the question came up at our place the other day. I thought it was a stupid question really - our machines are 80t capacity and weight 5 tonnes.

If you are doing hypodermic syringes, I am guessing Swindon or Plymouth. Wherever, enjoy putting on and taking off the cleanroom garb...

Our take out robots have carbon fibre arms so no pushing..just splinters when maintenance techs short out our safety systems!

We just crashed the press' program - fault was "Consent to close received before mould open - check signals"!!!! ;D ;D

Neither - Woodstock.  We've got a machine to go to Swindon shortly though...

For some reason i shave my beard off when theres some pharma work looming - can't stand the beard masks!

LOL. Contact lenses are no different. I stay clean chinned for that reason. Beard masks are horrible.

If you are where I thnk you are, I know the guy who services their BOY presses. Although, I doubt that you are fitting a nice robot like that to a BOY...  ;)

Nah - nice new Sumitomo IMMs..been playing with some 600 ton Husky machines today - much quicker.  In fact they had been programmed to expect our "silliness" - so kept faulting out when we took to long to reach vac on the parts due to a leak on the head..

Sorry to digress chaps - just nice to talk to someone who knows what i mean when i explain my job!

i used to be an Intergrated Field Force Tech for BT Switch XMSN & Network Build until i left....

i dont think BT will be around in the next 25 years the management are destroying the company!

21CN is a complete failiure apart from the ADSL side i think they should just give up!

unfortunatly the company is run by accountants not engineers a bad way to be imho

Im applying to work for the MOD Nr Chelt have passed both interviews just waiting for the drug testing

I think the current management are as bad as the bad old days of Vallance and Bonfield, lacking direction and ideas, and throw money at problems in the hope they'll go away.

Whether or not 21CN will ever work properly, they have to do it, as most of the digital exchanges are at the end of their original planned service life, and 21CN is a low cost way of replacing them on the back of the expensive trunk network overhaul.

Lol, ow how ill informed we are on 21CN.

Its not the cheapest option by any means, IP backhaul still has a high Capex and Opex compared to the older (and already there) TDM systems. Its also not as reliable to!). THye could eaily install mapper cards in the current setup at low cost to take the IP based traffic from newer soft swicth based exchange setups!

21CN is a dogs arse of a setup as there are to many vendors supplying the kit and some of the kit was not mature when selected!

I on the other hand dont mind, whilst 21CN is falling over, BT are buying loads of OMS1600 to keep shoring the TDM setup up which is my baby (or was, I am now running development of the next gen layer 2/3 kit)
