another productive Saturday
« on: 27 January 2007, 18:16:38 »

Changed the radiator on the Senator today, first time I have done anything like that. Probably the biggest single job I have done, managed to do it without buggering anything!!! Yay!!  :D

Dead simple to do, managed to do it without the car jacked up. Disconnect all the pipes and clips, oil cooler pipes, leccy connector all dead simple. Had to get underneath the car to do the another metal pipe, but did that without the car jacked up  :)

2 big tugs, old Rad lifted out. New one bit fiddly to get in to 'slot' right, but got there in the end. Connect it all up again, flushed with water twice nice and clear. Filled with antifreeze and runs sweet now no steam from the Rad.

Runs at 80 at speed, 100 in town. - Really pleased I managed to do it without snapping nuts ect...

Big public 'Thanks' to Graham (omegatoy), for supplying the new rad & he put up with several phone calls from me asking very stupid questions/  :y

Correct, its a penetrating oil.. from what i hear its the best think to get the central locking going again. It works at the moment, but several locks are a little 'sticky' mainly the passenger side front door.

I have to say, WD40 is a bl**dy site better lubricant than it is as a penetrating oil!

It also brings up black plastic bumpers up a treat!!

Try spraying some on black plastic, leave for 5 seconds then wipe down. Prepare to be amazed!  ;)

when you have dosed them with wd40 wait a few mins for it to chase the damp off then give the locks a good dose of spray grease this will lubricate them far better as it will follow the wd into all the nooks an crannies but stay there unlike the wd which wil evapaorate!! motorcycle chain grease will do it if you can steal the Boys stuff!!!

Cheers G  :y

I have some grease but its in a pot like the oil you used, little hing on the handle to pump it out. Its very 'wax' like, not sure if that will do.  :-/
