Ive got a 20D

Had a play with a friends 50D with the 18-200 IS lens

A nice combo, im very happy with what I have, and to be fair the newer one doesnt really offer me anything I NEED over what I have.

Saying that though, the 10D is quite a bit older and longer in the tooth, and would be a great upgrade.
Sorry Jimbob but I would say your more of a DD like me ;D

I don't think many people buy on the basis of what is best technically these days unless they're first-timers.  Brand loyalty counts for a lot.

I'm a Pentax diehard but that's partly because they support the lenses I bought in the 70s and 80s!

I would draw your attention to the water/dust seals on the Pentax if you shoot in adverse conditions.

Also, if you use auto-focus, Pentax lenses are very fast at doing it these days.

Canon do have the best all round package, excellent lenses, great bodies, good flash guns etc.

I just wish more of the digital units had the eye control focus!

Must admit the build quality from a Canon is by far the best i have seen... my 10D has served me well since i got it, must have been one of the first to get one when they came out, was only available on special order from Jessops then...
So will be off for a trip to the shop tomorrow if able to and have a try with the 50D...

In fact, one of the only reasons I ahve not upgraded to a digital SLR is the lack of a mid rnage Canon with eye control focus to replace my EOS 30!
