I think there is more to this than meets the eye.As the Boy said the monarch is the head of the anglican church,if in the future a non Anglican is on the throne then the link between church/monarchy is broken,this would no longer be an Anglican country,so there would be no official religion and therefore a totally secular society,or perhaps another religion could become the official faith.perhaps one which had quite a lot of practising /devout followers
The bishops would also lose their seats in the lords to be replaced by,probably another load of cronies/yes men.
In effect the countrys constitution would be torn up and thrown away.

May well not happen anyway,apparently the palace informed him that he has no right,it can only be done with the agreement of the heads of all commonwealth states as the monarch is not just monarch of the UK,but the whole commonwealth.

I'm not interested in the religion side of this debate - thats a different can of worms - but how can the head of the Church of England be a Catholic. History tells us how much intolerance there is between Catholics and Prodestants...

If I am correct historically, the Church of England is originally the Catholic Church of England...

Correct,The Catholic Church of England (Anglican)and the Roman Catholic Church are two completely different organisations.

Anglicanism is an inbetween religion between Catholics and Protestants.

ie it has features of both.

eg alcohol is allowed, yet clergy can marry

So basically if you are classed as CofE you are Anglican and so neither but both of the above

Basically the church of England has over time expanded to other countries and is known internationally as the Anglican church,ie church of Scotland,church of Ireland etc,like the church of England but outside of England.

No, it's not -- but it is getting better! At the end of the day, though, we are talking papists, as in Roman Catholics.

My family was, and some of them still are, staunchly R.C and through and through Royalist at the same time. Both of which allegiances have cost them dearly over the centuries.

However, I still think GB should keep in nose out of our traditions and concentrate on getting us out of the mess he got us into
