New GM aux belt

Eventually god around to popping on a new aux belt on the MV6, old one was a bit old and buggered, supposedly changed with cambelt at 92k (60k ago), but I doubt it!!


Anyway, new one, GM part number from dealer, but with Contitech written on the belt itself, bugger me it was a tight fit :o

I remember that some pattern ones where a shade shorter, wonder if GM are buying up some of these pattern ones....

I had one of those shorter ones (came from Autovaux - can't recall the make but wasn't branded Contitech).  Symptoms were a loud squeal for a minute or two after starting off from cold.   The adjuster was right over on the limit to get it on.

Autovaux replaced it without question.

Amateur...bet you were trying to get it on the tensioner or alternator pulley.

If there is some adjustement left then it will be fine.

Amateur...bet you were trying to get it on the tensioner or alternator pulley.

I always aim for the waterpump as that is always easier :y - just wasn't enough room to have tensionerfully untensioned, SIA pipes, and my mits to flip it on, hence bagpipe removal ;D  :-[
