I've got one of those inspection lamps fromn the last time, they come with a long lead that saves you having to use extension leads.

Lidl also have some power tools on offer today; I`ve been and bought a large 2 Kw. angle-grinder (well worth it at £29.99):

I use a big candle, especially when looking for fuel leaks. My insurance company have asked me not to do it again.

Yes Welung, thanks, that is the way I should go I suppose.  I am fed up of always having to work on the car in only daylight hours, and not being able to use power tools! :( :(

I am not going back to my younger days though of still being under a car at midnight, but that light plus invertor would be excellent. :-* ;)

Looks very similar to this from Screwfix: clicky

I paid 12 quid for it but it does a great job!
