The caring profession?

A nurse who was disgusted by the neglect of the elderly in a Brighton hospital filmed it for panorama,was she promoted ? given a medal?
freedom of Brighton? A Florence Nightingale award for putting patients interest above her own?.....Nope she has been struck off. >:( >:( >:(

It is a "closed" profession that protects its own ahead of patient interest.  It is bad enough, to them, if an outsider highlights a problem nationally, but when one of "their own" does, they are not happy bunnies!! ::) ::)

Of course they use the weapon of ethics and patient confidentiality to justify their actions against any "whistle blower", trying hard to belittle what that person has tried to do in the public's interest! >:( >:(

on a simliar subject- MP's expenses - many people on DHSS are getting locked up for a fraction of what the MPs 'cllaim' legitimately- presumably best defence would be - 'am practising for a career in politics' - so now't changes

I was quite appalled by the news, felt sorry for her as she has lost her profession for helping out Panorama. :(

Disgusting but, in our current society, entirely unsurprising.  :(

No she was punished for trying to help her profession

Hardly a surprise-this isnt the first time its happened in the NHS nor will it be the last.  :(I assume that the person involved tried all the "correct" channels first before taking the step of going "public"? Know quite a few people myself who work at various levels in the NHS and the stories they tell....I know its a "service" but some business principles must apply, the lack of accountability and productivity in relation to some of the salaries being earned is frightening. Some (I stress some, as many NHS managers work exceptionally hard) of these people wouldnt last 2 minutes in private sector businesses.

Not just in the NHS but other public sector providers, and you can't say anything, through proper channels. :-X

Like the whistle blower who leaked the e mails to Damian Green.He had a load of anti terror police turn up at his house early in the morning to arrest him.They told him they werent willing to do any deals and he was facing life in prison.This was for exposing the fact that the home office had given clearance to thousands of illegal immigrants to work in the security industry.
Imo the politicisation of the police is one of the most disgraceful yhings that this disgraceful govt. has done. >:( >:(
