To be honest Myself & Pete were talking about this the other day.
We have only ever fitted Genuine Vauxhall Cambelt & Tensioners and Water Pumps. But with the price of parts going silly we have now got two prices.
One price if Genuine Parts are still wanting to be used.
Another Price for Contitec/Gates Parts used.

People have then got the choice of two prices :y

Contitech and Gates are fine for the cambelt (and generally have the markings that the VX ones don't) the important part is that the rollers / tensioners are manufactured by SKF.

Daz you could always use non- genuine they are as good as. I have sold a cambelt kit, water pump myself to a member on here and the car is still going. I put a contitech cambelt kit and waterpump on mine and it's still fine. Always best to shop around for the parts as seeing as they are getting expensive. Iirc the cambelt kit I sold for the V6 (prefacelift) last year was £75 and the water pump was £25 and that was staff price.

Paul :y

I can vouch for non gates kit as mine was fitted with non- genuine and I have just completed 710 mile return trip to Wales :y

Daz - both Contitech & Gates are oem suppliers to Vx - the Vx parts you buy at exhorbitant prices were probably made by either Gates or Contitech!  The two kits I bought last Aug from buypartsby @£50 a throw were Contitech with SKF bearings - belts were actually marked GM!  No probs to date and Estate has covered around 10K miles since.
