Prostate problem
« on: 14 April 2009, 22:21:11 »

<---------Just learned today that this handsome-lad (Cody) has developed a serious prostate problem and needs urgent surgery.....I`m worried, but (thankfully) hopeful of a full recovery for him.
He`s a truly devoted, working Border Collie and always at my right hand! :-*
The poor lad is going to lose some of his man-bits in the surgery too; I`m sure all OOF 'blokey-blokes' will have sympathy for him.

Not particularly pleasant having it just checked out, so feel for him with surgury.

Dread to think what that will cost!  do you have dog insurance?

Sadly not, as the monthly premiums for covering three working-dogs got into 'silly' money; but the Vet. kindly allows me 8 weeks to pay the invoices and will do the surgery for a fixed fee. :y

Cody agrees Jimbob; the exam was not at all pleasant, but the Vet did warm (and lube) his finger first! ;)

My sympathies Debs , sad thing when your pet falls ill. Our little Bengal was recently diagnosed with a malignant tumour on her saliva gland and after two sessions of electro chemotherapy she now faces surgery next week to have the tumour removed. Like you we have no pet insurance and if I told you how much it is costing you'd  (possibly ) be shocked.
However they are like family I suppose...............
Good luck
Don

Long story short, our dog is insured but not the cat, the cat got injured and the words 'put it down' turned into 'do what you have to do' twice now, first time over £300 second £160 Daughter would never have forgiven me ::) ::) ::)

Nah --- can't have them put down unless its the last resort --- my last dog ( meaning the last one I had and the last I will ever have) had to be put down when her kidneys failed .... even knowing it was the best thing to do for her I felt like the worlds biggest traitor -- that was 10 years ago and I still well up ( as I am doing right now) when I think about it and about her.

All I have now is an 'ickle bunny -- who lives in the house ( and is house trained ... goes back to her cage to do the business ) .. she's a Lionhead, about 5 now -- so getting on in bunny terms I guess ... she cost me £45 for the rabbit, over £150 in cage and toys at the time I got her and a fair bit more in Vets fees over the years ( normal check ups and vaccinations as well as an op for an obstruction )

Worth every penny  :y
