Outgoings £400 more than incomings
« on: 16 April 2009, 23:21:48 »

Is so depressing, been checking statements.

Additionals are a meal for Sues birthday, £100 spent at VX and tools, £92 filling

However over £400 at Tescos, over £200 utilities

In fact utilities and council tax about equal to mortgage

Thats not good .... been there got the T-shirt ...  in 1978 when the mortgage rate hit 18% at one stage my standing orders per month were more than my pay .. :( luckily we managed to sit it out but it was close ... My mum was lending me money to buy bread and baked beans .. thats what we lived off for 3 months !!  Luckily, at that time, we had no kids.. so it was just us.

Then Chris found a job and we (the Forces) got  a huge pay rise from the labour government trying to "buy" our votes ... my wages went from £5700 a year to £7100 ...

We found some paperwork last year and had a laugh ... at that stage my mortgage for the basic house was double what I was paying 6 years later after 2 extensions !!!  18% and 6% interest rates were very very different !!

I suppose the moral of this is "stick it out"... things go around and improve, then go around again and get worse ... it just depends where you are sitting in the cycle ... this time round we have no mortgage when the rates are low, but have savings that are doing sweet F all .. :(

This month will be slightly ahead - I have had £150 paid in from paypal, so that will help, but then school fees are due >:(, luckily we do have help with those (80% bursary and MIL cheque).

That filling was painfull financially, it would have been less different but the 2 PP transactions had not gone through, also I did spend £200 on PP last month (heads & oil cooler).

My wife commented on me buying two magazines and a map!

All the utilities have shot up. Electric 40, gas 60, phone&BB nearly 60, I am investigating all of those - but I did owe BT a bit through low DDs.

I worked out take away filling, oil cooler, heads, tools, car bits, birthday meals ect I would have been just ahead.
