Well wash machine just gave up (not the wife).i can hoestly say it's been a pain since i bought it , 3 cam belt changes 3 brake drum bearings  .So have had enough of repairs and gone for one of them direct drive systems ,hope that will give less hassle still i suppose its one out all out with that system.still it's got a digital dash read out and plays a tune when finished

A hot point then I guess.....

Direct drive induction motor as a replacement.....with a nice big expensive solid state cyclo converter to drive it!

Mrs. bought a Hoover one not long back, lucky for her she took out the extra 5 year warranty, in 2 years 7 times they have been out £300 it was too   It didn't work first time it was turned on always said door was locked had to be reset.

All hotpoints eat drum bearings.....they always have, they always will.

The spider seals fail and let water into the bearings.......and they like brushes for the DC motor (at least the induction motor based ones dont have brushes!).

Yup, when I worked for a service company repairing unrelated stuff, I used to make a fortune out of washing machine brush replacement and door seals

Got an LG direct drive,the drum bearings were a pig to replace but not much else gone wrong in the last 7 years.

heres me just about to go for a range of hotpoint gear in my new kitchen.  had a eye on a hotpoint dishwasher, was looking at a matching fridge and then was thinking about selling my washer/dryer to get a hotpoint washer.    maybe not now then. :-/

Mines a Bosch.....over 10yrs old....and used 3 or 4 times a week....only needed a new pump (bearings were going i think, by the sound it made)......about £25 off ebay....thats all thats gone wrong......oh on/off button is jammed in with a piece of carboard...as it wont stayed latched in ( i turn it on/off at the mains socket now)

Dishwasher is Bosch too....and thats even older by a few years....again used 3 or 4 times a week.....and apart from occasionally getting blocked up, by me being lazy and not rinsing the dishes first.....its never gone wrong

My AEG must be 10 at least going strong tempting fait, no problems
until 3 months ago door came off in my hand.

Part of the door moulding had broke that held the screws - drilled
two holes thru door  plastic surround, on now held on by two cs nuts and bolts - 68p - result

My sister is a bugga with washing machines and hoovers.  No regards for them what so ever.

Hoovers, whatever is on the floor gets sucked up, elactistic bands and lego included.

Washing machine.  7LB load limit, she tries for 7 KG evey time. :-/
